Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) is better known under her stage name Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist signed to J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first EP titled Pho in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012, when she released her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she dropped additional music on the internet including Bound. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time and wanted her to perform on Rihanna reference. On December 8 it was announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance to J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music video followed followed by a video in September. In November, she dropped two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 2013 she dropped No One as well as Pedigree. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on the 26th of February, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same name. In February of 2019, a music video was released for the song. It already has nearly three millions views on YouTube within the initial week. The singer was a part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December the year 2018.
